Michael Ford

Michael is currently in training to become a UK and European patent attorney. He has experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications across diverse technical fields including mechanical devices, medical and veterinary devices, electrochemical and optical gas and particle sensors, renewable technologies, advanced display technologies, acoustics, inkjet printing, materials deposition and packaging. Michael’s work also includes filing and prosecuting registered design applications, assisting with registered trade mark applications, and carrying out IP audits.

Michael has an MEng and a DPhil in Materials Science from the University of Oxford. After completing his doctoral studies, Michael carried out research at the Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany, where he also built on his German language skills. His research focused on the thermodynamic properties of metallic nanoparticles, and subsequently on the development of theoretical models for the unusual magnetic properties of transition metals.

Michael completed his Foundation Certificate exams in 2017 and was awarded the Chris Gibson Prize for the highest mark in the UK for the Basic English Law paper. He is currently working towards his Final Diploma exams and the European Qualifying Examinations. Michael joined Alistair Hindle Associates in 2014.
